Ode to Dello

Meet Dello

So...I'm not sure how or where this originated, but Kaitlyn and I for some reason feel compelled to make "dello" faces every time we take a picture. If only I could add a recording of Kaitlyn saying, "Oh, hello dello!" in her dello voice it might make more sense.

Miss you Krait, I hope you've found someone else to make dello faces with :)

(And I hope you don't mind this last picture, it's my favorite one I have of you)

Christmas Fun

Yay for Christmas! We recently added a second bird ornament to our tree (since this will be our second Christmas as a married couple) and Jeff affectionately named him "Al the Owl." I think he looks good next to our peacock we got last year :)

We also bought cheap felt stockings and puff paint last year but never decorated them, so earlier this month we finally got around to it. I think my reindeer turned out pretty darn good.

This week my family all decorated gingerbread houses, it's definitely my favorite Christmas tradition. Mom let Me, Meg, and Mich make the gingerbread the night before, but with our little baking experience most of the pieces had to be glued back together with frosting the next day. Who knew gingerbread was so tricky? (Or that we're so bad at baking?)(Well...that's not really a surprise...) With Tyler gone it was relatively uneventful, no decapitated santas and red sprinkles this year, darn.

Merry Christmas everyone!

All I want for Christmas...

...is a Bengal Kitten!

Anyone who knows me knows I love cats. I was lucky enough to marry another cat lover, but unfortunately, our landlords don't allow pets, (for reason that are totally understandable). Because we can't have our own little kitty, we often visit Petsmart and play with the cats there or browse KSL and look at the kittens for sale. The other day while we were browsing we came across an ad for a "bengal cat..."

We have to have one.

As you can tell, they are absolutely gorgeous. There are lots of breeds; spotted, marbled, and white to name a few. They are cross bred with a non domesticated cat to achieve the "wild" looking aesthetic. Only real problem is they cost on the high end over $1,000 if you are going to breed them. If you want them just as a pet they usually sell for half that.

Worth it? Definitely. Can we afford it? Not yet :(

But when we can I think we'll probably get a snow lynx.

Sleepy

Second night i've been in the library until close. Usually that doesn't merit a post, but it's the end of the semester, and the library doesn't close until 2 am...

...and my paper still isn't done.

Gotta love them finals!

Today I signed up for the MCAT...

Best or worst thing I ever did? Guess I'll find out.

Jeff's banking on it being the be$t thing ;)

Suspenders, Roses, and Tucanos!

I know I'm a little late in posting these, but better late than never, right? The first few pictures are of a Halloween party me and Jeff went to, we couldn't find a costume that matched, so we gave up trying to be clever and just did the easiest thing, so I'm a gypsy and Jeff's a nerd, a pretty cute one too if I may say so. I lost the flour game, hence all the mess on my face...

The next picture is of my birthday, Jeff got me some nice glasses (I don't usually wear sun glasses in pictures, I promise) and some beautiful roses. The balloons were from mom :)

The last picture was of Jeff's birthday, we all went out to Tucanos, yummy. While we were there an awkward situation arose, and I know some of you think those are funny, so if you will indulge me...

Our server wasn't the best, she forgot water cups, was curt about coupons, and brought us our checks and asked us if there was anything else we wanted brought around one last time before we left, which usually isn't a big deal, but at an all you can eat buffet where a plate cost $30 and you're there for a birthday, you don't appreciate being rushed out.

In addition to the checks she also brought some electronic surveys, which I was glad to fill out. When it got to service, I choose the option of "unfriendly," however, at the end of the survey I also said I didn't want to speak to a manager, because that would be awkward, she wasn't horrible and I didn't want to ruin her night.

Well, not 30 seconds after I finish, the manager comes over and asks, "I saw on one of your surveys your service was 'unfriendly,' may I ask what happened?" (This is when I learned 'no' actually means 'yes,' go figure). I then told him how we were treated, with our server listening in at the table next to us. She then got chewed out right behind us...awkward. What was even more awkward, however, was our server continued to help us, because we weren't done with dinner, even if she had brought us our checks. Lesson learned; don't fill out a survey until you are walking out the door.

On a less uncomfortable note, but still kinda embarrassing, here's a video of me winning the donut game at the Halloween party :) (I knew my ability to consume at superhuman speeds would come in handy someday).

TEXAS!...a little late

Yay!!! Texas was a blast. Me, Dan, and Laugs went to the riverwalk, ate at taco taco, which is apparently the best taco shop in the nation, and of course enjoyed watching Danika play soccer. I was so proud, Danika even scored for me and Laugs, I wish I had a picture of that :)

Me and Laugs wanted to have Tiger spirit at her game, so we asked Dan if she had a t-shirt we could wear, and we weren't disappointed. This last picture is of a fraction of the t-shirts Danika offered, haha.

I'm so glad I could go visit Danika and see a little bit into what her life has been like for the last 4 years. Thanks to her and her lovely roommates and friends, I had such a blast :) And Abby, thanks again for staying sober ;)

Trick or Treat!!

I've always loved Halloween. Not sure if it's because my birthday is so close to it, or because it always meant I would get lots and lots of candy. Mostly I like it now because it means fall sweaters, (or winter coats, depending on the year) carving pumpkins, drinking hot chocolate, and dressing up! Besides, Halloween means Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner!

This is the werewolf Jeff and I carved a couple nights ago, (well, mostly Jeff). I think it's pretty good. Hope you have a Happy Halloween!!

Ephemeral Art

"You have to love dancing to stick to it. It gives you nothing back, no manuscripts to store away, no paintings to show on walls and maybe hang in museums, no poems to be printed and sold, nothing but that single fleeting moment when you feel alive." Merce Cunningham

Today I missed dancing.

Babies!!!

No I'm not pregnant. But my sister is coming into town tomorrow and she's bringing her two beautiful boys with her. I'm a little excited :) We get to babysit and I get to play with these babies all week long. Just for an idea of how cute they are I decided to give Finn and Nico some face time on the blog. Make sure to check out the video of Finn, I laugh every time.

These are a few of my least favorite things...

  1. When my lab partner asks if she can "compare answers" and then proceeds to copy my assignment.
  2. When that same girl and her friend help in no way during the 3 hour lab and instead talk about the party they didn't get invited to (...I wonder why).
  3. When those two girls walk out the second they have their answers (that we found for them) leaving the rest of us to clean up.
On a brighter note, I won't fail the class because I copied my classmate's notes!

First Post Ever!

So apparently there is demand for a blog by me and Jeff. I've been holding off setting one up because I already waste my time when I should be doing other things. I would like to thank Eliza and Jamyn for assuring me I would say things people would want to read, even if it's just for a good laugh. So here goes! I hope you enjoy :)
